NZ Costal Lights Award
There are Two NZART Awards Aimed at the Lights and Lighthouses of the New Zealand Coastline.
The Guiding Light Award has been on the awards programme since November 1998 and remains as a award to achieve. Note the Activation Zones for the Leading Lights award are as listed on the NZART Website not the ones that are listed on the ontheair.nz site.
The Coastal Lights award has been created to allow to have a more Local feel and to allow Hams more choice in lights achieved. All lights for this award are listed on ontheair.nz This Award has been created to use the location of the 101 Lights that are under the control of Maritime Safety Authority (MSA) or Regional authorities. This is not the total number of lights around the NZ Coastline but a good representation of them.
The Lights that are in the “Guiding Lights” Award are also included in this award and the distances for activation (of NZ Coastal Lights Award) is to be within the Activation Zone (AZ) Radius”. The AZ Radius is listed in the details of the individual light on the ontheair.nz website.

RULES.
- Lights as listed on ontheair.nz
- Activation must be within the AZ radius. The AZ of the lights in general is to be with-in sight of the light being activated. However some are very remote and these can be activated from the nearest road. These AZ are shown on the ontheair.nz website.
- Any Band, Mode.
- No Repeater or Internet use.
- One (1) Point is allocated per light.
- Lights logged from 1st November 1998 or later.
- Four (4) contacts to activate Light. Chasers require only one (1).
CERTIFICATES
Awarded for Activators and for Chasers. Apply to awards@nzart.org.nz for Check Log sheets.
There will be a range of Certificates available. Three for North Island, Three for South Island and Three for All of New Zealand.
