Position: Keeper of Milestones
Location: Unrestricted within New Zealand
Responsible to: NZART Council
Description of Position
NZART is a body that promotes Amateur Radio within New Zealand. The Keeper of Milestones is an officer appointed by NZART Council to maintain the “Milestones” listing on the NZART web site. The Keeper of Milestones reports to NZART Council, through an appointed Liaison Councillor.
Duties of the Position
a) Monitor amateur radio activities within New Zealand and identify on behalf of NZART Council, significant events worthy of recording for posterity. b) Identify activity by individual amateurs of a significant nature which should be recorded for posterity. c) To actively seek input and recommendations for the Milestones from Council; other members; other amateurs. d) Maintain and update the “Milestones” listing on the NZART web site. e) Provide advice to Council as required on matters relating to the keeping of Milestones.
The Keeper of Milestones would be an active amateur operator, and will demonstrate competent performance in: a) Identifying appropriate entries for the Milestones listing. b) Have a sound knowledge of all aspects of Amateur radio and the importance of historical events.
The Keeper of Milestones will require: a) Good person skills. b) A good knowledge of amateur radio and the aims of NZART.
The position is an unpaid annual appointment by Council; however operating expenses will be refunded as per NZART policy on Officer Expenses.
